When Jameson Horvath finished his business degree, something felt missing. He had the credential, but not the calling. So he went looking for work that meant something, the kind where showing up well actually matters.
He found it in EMS.
Now a student in St. Louis Community College’s paramedic technologies program, Jameson is the 2026 recipient of the Norman G. Corley Jr. Memorial Scholarship. This is AccuCare Event Medical’s scholarship established in honor of Norm Corley, EMT-P, a paramedic, mentor, and educator whose influence on the EMS community in St. Louis ran deep.
Norm taught at STLCC, among other places. He spent his career doing exactly what Jameson is now working toward, passing knowledge to the next generation, raising the standard of care, and building something that lasts. The scholarship is one way that work continues.
A Fenton, Missouri native, Jameson has known since early in his training where he wants to end up: on an ambulance district or fire department, serving the region where he grew up as a firefighter/paramedic. It’s a path shaped in part by an STLCC instructor whose passion for EMS left a lasting impression, a reminder that the right teacher changes the whole trajectory.
“Receiving this scholarship is meaningful in the fact that someone has gone out of their way to provide opportunity for me,” Jameson said. “I am honored that I am the one who will be receiving this large sum of money that can go to things that will help me be the best medic I can be.”
We’re proud to honor Norm’s legacy through students like Jameson. People who chose this field on purpose, and who plan to give back to the communities that shaped them.
